I booted up Overwatch 2 on PC this week, and the new update 4.36/1.000.101 is live on consoles and PC with a long list of balance changes and bug fixes. The patch notes came out swinging, and I’m not going to pretend every number is a headline. No fluff: here is what I’m watching as a player who splits time between tank and support.

🛠️ The tank room is doing cardio

D.Mon is the one my queue group is already arguing about. In 6v6, armor drops from 325 to 300, Plasma Saber damage goes from 65 to 60, and Power Barrier cast time is cut from 0.065s to 0.016s. Call Mech transformation falls from 1.95s to 0.95s, while Portable Fusion Repeater spread tightens from 2° to 1.75° but minimum falloff range drops from 30m to 20m. That is a mouthful, I know, but the short version is: D.Mon should feel snappier up close and less forgiving from range.

D.Va gets a small 5v5 buff with Mech base health up from 175 to 200. Domina’s ultimate cost is reduced by 6%. Mauga loses armor, going from 150 to 125, and his Chaingun tuning is a mixed bag: single-gun spread reverts from 1.5° to 1°, dual-gun spread rises from 4° to 5°, and falloff begins at 10m instead of 15m. Winston’s Barrier Projector cooldown drops from 12s to 10s, but duration falls from 8s to 7s. Wrecking Ball’s Adaptive Barrier perk duration is reduced from 1.5s to 1s, and Zarya’s Particle Barrier cooldown rises from 11s to 12s. The tank meta is stretching its legs, but it is not sprinting in one direction.

⚡ Damage and utility get a tune-up

Hero What changed My read
Anran Reduced enemy visual effects from Dancing Blaze; Vermillion Revival cast time 3s → 2.5s Cleaner fights and a faster revival
Freja Relentless Barrage refunds 8 → 5 bolts; Revdraw Crossbow 30 → 28; Explosive Bolt 80 → 75 Less burst, more commitment
Junkrat Concussion Mine cooldown 8s → 7s; Nitro Boost speed bonus 125% → 100% More mines, less rocket-chair chaos
Sierra Helix Rifle projectile speed 90 → 120, damage 9 → 8.5; Tracking Shot 9 → 8.5; Tremor Charge 8.5s → 7s Faster shots, softer hits
Symmetra Teleporter placement range 30m → 25m; reuse cooldown 1s → 1.25s Tighter teleporter play
Torbjörn Anchor Bolts turret throw-range bonus 50% → 25%; Rivet Gun secondary spread 4.5° → 4° Less long-arm turret abuse
Vendetta Palatine Fang more responsive; Whirlwind Dash and Sundering Blade recovery times increased Better feel, slower recovery

I like the Junkrat mine cooldown change more than I expected. It makes his trap game feel more active, even with the Nitro Boost speed bonus trimmed. Sierra’s projectile speed bump is the kind of change that looks small on paper but changes how the gun feels in my hands. The damage reduction keeps it from becoming a pure upgrade.

💉 Supports and the perk pass

Baptiste’s Immortality Field threshold rises from 20% to 25%, cooldown drops from 22s to 20s, and health goes from 125 to 150. Brigitte loses 25 health but gains 25 armor, moving from 200 health and 50 armor to 175 health and 75 armor. Jetpack Cat’s Biotic Pawjectiles damage and healing fall from 4.5 to 4. Lifeline now disconnects when carried targets are stunned or mobility-locked, while allies automatically accept Lifeline over a death plane. Kiriko’s Healing Ofuda speed drops from 24 to 18 m/s and seeking range from 35m to 30m. Protection Suzu invulnerability falls from 0.65s to 0.5s and radius from 5m to 4m. Wuyang’s Restorative Stream regeneration rises from 12.5% to 15% per second, with line-of-sight timeout cut from 5s to 3s. Zenyatta’s Harmony Orb line-of-sight timeout also drops from 5s to 3s.

The perk changes are where Blizzard’s balance team has been tinkering under the hood. D.Va’s MEKA Ejector power ultimate charge cost reduction increases to 60% from 50%. Junker Queen’s Cut ’Em Gracie power return damage drops from 40 to 30. Genji’s Laceration power cooldown reduction per target rises from 2s to 2.5s. Vendetta’s Apex Bloodlust power lifesteal per stack falls from 5% to 4%. Ana’s Falconer power attack speed bonus rises from 30% to 50%, but ultimate charge gain falls from 25% to 10%. Jetpack Cat’s Territorial power damage is reduced to 20% of healing from 30%.

🐞 Bug fixes and quality-of-life notes

The patch also fixes a bug where Battlepass XP was not granted for Stadium Quick Play matches. It fixes a bug with the 'Solus Victorem 2026 Finals' Spray, a kill feed issue that could sometimes show out of order, several After Match Rewards summary issues, and several ping system issues. Blizzard removed the High Precision Mouse Input setting because the problem it was built to solve has now been addressed through other means. The removal does not change how mouse input functions in-game. Stadium also gets fixes for Mercy’s Sympathetic Recovery passive and Cut ’Em Gracie sometimes pulling targets not stuck by the blade.

For me, this patch feels like a reset rather than a revolution. The tank changes are loud, the support changes are surgical, and the bug fixes are the quiet work that keeps a match from falling apart. I’m going to spend my next queue session testing D.Mon’s new Call Mech timing and seeing whether Kiriko still feels as slippery. My queue group is already arguing about the Mauga numbers, and honestly, that is how I know a patch has landed. 🎮
