So Blizzard decided to drop a hefty Overwatch 2 update on the same day as a Diablo 4 patch, because apparently the studio's philosophy is "sleep is for people who don't main support." Console players will see this bad boy as update 4.31/1.000.095, and let me tell you, it's not just another bug-fix sandwich. There's a whole new mode, a pile of Stadium item changes, and enough bug fixes to make my replay folder feel personally attacked. Replay codes have been wiped, by the way. Pour one out for that one clip where I almost hit a headshot.

Community Crafted: Four Creators Walk Into a Bar

Am I the only one who reads patch notes like a bedtime story? This update introduces the new Community Crafted game mode, built with help from four creators: Guxue, Apply, Ocie, and mL7support. Every hero except Shion has changes based on what these folks wanted to see. You can jump into the Arcade from June 30 until July 13, and yes, I will be there, probably feeding on a hero I thought I understood. Who thought giving content creators this much power was a good idea? Spoiler: it's glorious chaos, and I'm here for it.

Stadium Items: My Wallet Is Crying

The Stadium changes are where my inner accountant starts sweating. Blizzard says these tweaks are meant to improve counter options against tanky, sustain-heavy compositions, and to add a gadget for dealing with fliers when your base kit has the aerial threat management of a wet paper bag. Let me run through the highlights, because if I don't write them down, I'll forget them mid-match and buy the wrong thing again.

Item Change My Reaction
Assassin Amplifier Cost down to 13000 from 14000; Weapon Power down to 20% from 25% Cheaper, weaker, still my toxic trait
Cybervenom New: 10% Ability Power, 5% Cooldown Reduction, 25% Gadget Cooldown Reduction, 9500 cost My gadget addiction has a new enabler
Siphon Snippet New: 25 Shields, 5% CDR, on-use knockback + 35% healing reduction for 5s, 25 overhealth per enemy hit, 4000 cost This is going to ruin someone's day, and I hope it's not me
Colossus Core Cost up to 10000 from 9500; Damage Reduction down to 10% from 25% My tank dreams are officially nerfed
Jet Skates Cost up to 10000 from 9500; Cooldown up to 10s from 8s Fine, I'll walk like a peasant
Kitsune Charm Cost up to 11000 from 10000; Cooldown up to 25s from 20s Still cute, still expensive
Vortex Vial New: 50 Health, 10% Move Speed, on-use slowing vortex that pulls enemies downward for 2.5s, 25s cooldown Gravity is a suggestion now

Blizzard also added another control point from Oasis University to Stadium, which means I can now get lost in a new location while pretending I'm rotating properly. The patch notes say they're tuning back some gadgets that have become prevalent so they're more situational. Translation: my crutch is getting shorter, and I need to learn to walk again.

Bug Fixes: The "Finally" Section

Now for the part where I nod aggressively at my screen. The update fixes a bunch of things, including the Sierra World Cup skin not appearing correctly, Ashe taking more damage than intended from her own Dynamite, Brigitte's Inspire UI not accounting for the Morale Boost perk, and Lucio's perk audio cues unintentionally giving away his location. Wait, Lucio's music was betraying him? That's the most Lucio thing I've ever heard.

Other fixes include Orisa still being pinned if Fortify activates at the exact same time as Reinhardt's Charge, the Survivor sub-role passive healing incorrectly triggering if a movement ability is used before taking damage, Pharah's extra fuel from Fuel Store not activating if her fuel was decaying before Jet Dash, and Sierra's grapple drone shenanigans. There's also a fix for Mercy's Guardian Angel UI button appearing to activate without a valid target, which explains why I've been flying into walls and blaming the game. Sorry, game.

Stadium also gets a long list of fixes: Lifesteal incorrectly granting currency, Juno's Fission Chamber not scaling with Attack Speed, Juno's Blink Boosts allowing Glide Boost while crowd controlled, Ana's IV Drip not having reduced overhealth with Fountain of Soothe, Brigitte's Optimizer granting more self-healing than expected, Zenyatta's Enlightenment healing over 1 and not granting ultimate charge or currency, and more. Honestly, reading this list makes me wonder: how many of these bugs did I personally blame on my own bad gameplay? The answer is too many.

Final Thoughts: See You in the Arcade

So here's the plan: I'm going to log in, queue for Community Crafted, pick a hero I definitely don't understand, and blame the creators when it goes wrong. The mode runs from June 30 to July 13, so I have a limited window to embarrass myself in a brand-new way. Will I learn the item changes before then? Absolutely not. Will I buy Vortex Vial and pretend I'm a gravity wizard? You bet. See you in the Arcade, and remember: if you see a Tracer stuck in a wall, it's probably me, and it's definitely a bug. Probably.
